ROYAL NAVY GUNNERS HELMET (FALKLANDS WAR) dated 1979

.
A re working of the Army Royal Armoured Corps MKII Steel Helmet

This pattern of helmet was originally introduced in 1945 replacing the original pattern worn during WW2. The main feature of this new pattern was the 'lift the dot' fastener which attaches the liner into the helmet. The helmet shell remained virtually unchanged and this pattern was worn by a number of special forces units of the British Army.

The helmet retains an excellent amount of paint to the exterior which appears to be a period repaint at unit level. The interior features its original paint finish which is earth brown a colour used by British Commandos during WW2.
The liner is present and dated 1979 (FALKLANDS WAR PERIOD) . As is the cap comforter. The original chin strap is also still present and retains some of its elasticity.
