The detachment was established on October 10, 1940, in Koblenz-Niederlahnstein, Military District XII. It was formed through contributions from other replacement detachments and was subordinate to the commander of Signals Troop XII. On October 1, 1942, the detachment was renamed Signals Training Detachment 33.
